This felt like a breakthrough in terms of finding my mug carving voice in my still-early pottery career. I have been perfecting my Starry Night Mugs that have become a staple in my ceramic repertoire and homage to one of my favorite paintings: Vincent Van Gogh's 'The Starry Night.' After a trip to Jackson Hole to see the Tetons early last year, I've been forever changed by a landscape I instantly fell in love with. 
 
This particular iteration of the carving heavily features the sky overtop of the mountain range, and the clear glaze had a cloudy hue providing a bit more of a rainy atmosphere to the mug, raining down on the mountains which I think is special in itself.
