A Long Way From Home is a special print for myself in many ways. After a short break from relief printing to pursue intaglio methods and to dive into the realms of screen printing, I have returned home to the comforts of carving tiny trees in blocks. It seems to be a running theme, doesn't it?
A Long Way From Home features a partly imaginative, partly rendered scene of the mountains in Lutsen, Minnesota. It's a special place for many because these mountains are where snow enthusiasts thrive in the winter and explorers go to play in the summer. Laughs are shared and memories are made all year round during ski trips, afternoon hikes, and photo sessions in gondolas.
I hope you are able to recall a fond memory every time you look at this print and get lost in it yourself.

Be sure to measure your print upon receiving it in order to get the best size frame to protect your artwork. I also recommend purchasing a mat for your frame to create a clean design in addition to protecting the print long term! Over many years the relief ink used will slowly release a very small amount of gas. Meaning, the print benefits from having space between the artwork and the frame's glass!
